2017-8
These paintings were created in her first moments back to painting after having a child, while living in Hawaii.
Silent Awakening
this was inspired by a meditation, going within and letting the third eye see for us. It was a playful process with looseness in the under layers with dripping and experimental textures |
Serenity - White Tara
she was inspired by healing, the Tibetan buddhist goddess tara is powerful while being gentle and compassionate. She sits upon a lotus floating about the mountains. Spirit bird enters and clean waters flow forth. |
Lust of the Tides
this embodiment of Yemaya is the balance to Pele- fire and water, steadfast and flowing. She dances to the moon and calls the ocean with her shell. Cowrie shells for fertility. The Polynesian style tattoo on her leg connects her to Hawaii. |
2015
This body of paintings was begun when Hope took time off an international Medicine for the People music tour at 6 months along her pregnancy to prepare for the birth of her daughter. These paintings evolved as a type of conscious meditation; Hope painted what she needed to invoke for her personal transformation to prepare for the birth and coming new life.

INTENTION
Original Acrylic on canvas 24" x 30" Inspired by my experience of the balance growing new life while just stepping off international touring~ thus, keeping both my mind on the issues and my heart on the spirit of global consciousness. This Hapai wahine is steadfast and unwavering, as each woman must be as she prepares to become a mother. The Pacific ocean’s beauty is integrated in the colors and waves of her hair, as well as the Hawaiian sunrise shell at her neck. |
PASSAGEWAY
Original Acrylic 24" x 30" An intimate view into the world of women’s powerful work of bringing new life into this world, and the ancestors who surround us to support this sacred rite of passage. This grandmothers from around the world are assisting by laying on of hands their love, healing, and experience to this young mother. The birthing woman whose eyes are closed has instinctually entered her primal state to bring forth life through her body. In this moment the mother’s spirit rises as her baby is crowing at her altar and entering the world. My work as a midwife assisting hundreds of births, revealed to me the importance and impact of bringing natural birth back into our cultural awareness as the sacred experience it is. |
BELIEVE
Original Acrylic on canvas 24" x 30" Intuitively channelling this light being as the spirit of life in the next generation within me. The white bird held at the child’s heart conveys an innocent quality of the peace dove as well as a representation of freedom. The relationship between child and bird is of unlikely yet fearless trust. |
MAUNA
Original Acrylic on canvas 30" x 40" SOLD The full moon and starry night sky hanging over Mauna Kea crown this Hawai'ian inspired dancer who invokes the power of Pele as her lava flows. Her presence resonates with and radiates her passion for the Hawai’i Aina she respects and loves. Behind her flies the Pueo, and before her grows the Ohia tree, each beloved companion of the natural world holding the mana alongside her. This painting is reflecting the powerful times we are in now as people of this island are rallying to protect our sacred mountains. |
FREEDOM
Original Acrylic on canvas 16" x 20" Libertatum Sempiternus is Latin for ‘Everlasting Freedom’. Transparent temple walls reminiscent of ancient style and signature contain a spirit bird emerging forth from a lotus resting in self reflection. As the bird moves upwards in flight, it reveals its strength and freedom, without concern for the structure that might restrain it. |
COMPASSION
Original Acrylic on canvas 20"x 32" ~$1500 This is an island inspired version of Quan Yin, an East Asian bodhisattva and deity of compassion and mercy. She is known to give freely unending sympathy, fertility, health and insight to all who ask. She emits a cool calmness, elusive yet gracefully generous. She has a classical circle of light around her to denote her sanctity and is holding her traditional symbol, the pink lotus flower. |
