Hope will be joining a sweet line up of harmony and world music on stage in Hawaii at PoleStar's annual Sacred Music Festival. She will be accompanied by David Sunshine on the melodic hardpans and will be weaving her layers and looped vocals will live acoustic beats on cajon and djembe. This event will be a beautiful gathering of friends and musicians deep in the jungle of Puna. The vibrations of this land are alive with the frequencies of Pele.
Preparing for Hope's new album release there are some beautiful video projects in the works, getting ready to express & spread the heartfelt frequency of her new songs in powerful visuals in nature, and in collaborations with some other powerful ladies of melody... many of her new songs resound with messages honoring the earth and respecting the feminine; thus the imagery resonates with similar intention. Hope co-created with a circle of seven rotating sisters, an amazing new Music and Arts Festival this year~ MANA Fest, honoring the feminine. This festival was unique in that it featured women's voices and sisters opportunities to share their knowledge in a huge offering of 20 workshops, a Red Tent of rituals and education, mana marketplace, tea lounge, and healing arts zone, spa and 10 musical performances including Sara Tone, Diane Patterson, Amber Lily, Water Dropz, and Hope, who headlined the event which SOLD OUT!! As well as taught a workshop on the spirit of natural Birth , and also showed her paintings. MANA Fest was in a beautiful permaculture retreat center in the jungle of Big Island Hawaii. This community event created jobs for 60 women & its beauty and power will be sure to be followed up with MANA Fest 2017` look for it!! The Red Tent is an ancient tradition, a place where only women would go, usually while on their moon. In this tent the women could tell their stories, share their wisdom, sing and heal together, listen and be heard in the gentle feminine environment. Now women are revitalizing, recreating, and reclaiming these spaces as places to once again share knowledge and ritual as well as to educate our sisters on the moon mysteries, sexuality, fertility, birth, and women's health. Hope had the pleasure of both teaching and facilitating a conversation on the spirit of natural birth at Mana Fest 2016. This was a unique and memorable opportunity to invite each woman present to share he knowing, fears, and lessons with the group in a way that elevated the group awareness and compassion for each other. Photo of Hope center stage during her powerful Djembe solo, as Nahko leaps and flies overhead! Excited to release this new music video~ shot by Surviving Child Media, starring Jasmine Fuego~ in the forests and hills of San Francisco! This is a powerful collaboration of a team of artists and dancers front the bay area, that came out beautifully, with the raw energy intended for this song. Temple is a song based on traditional African lyrics; a song honoring, invoking and bringing together the feminine, the masculine, and the great spirit. This fusion combines those lyrics with a drum pattern of India & a sweet heavy dance groove! Enjoy~ Beginning a new series of paintings, this is an exciting time! Hope has created a little bit a of time to get out her easel and paints again after touring hard and now has some new ideas and techniques that are coming out fast and fabulous~ stay tuned! Most of her work is acrylic paint on canvas~ though there are aspects of multi media in every piece to get the layers of sophisticated shading and detail. It's a big year for Medicine for the People, and many changes are afoot~ but we began with a bang and have been well received everywhere we've been! We thank you to our greater community and tribe out there rooting for us and making this movement move! You are the ones we've been waiting for! Medicine for the People was invited to perform on the international Zen Cruise over the ocean to Haiti and Jamaica for a journey of yoga and music! It was especially mind blowing to hit the soil in Jamica and spend the afternoon at the home of an Ital crew ~ they had a medicinal plant garden and a thatched roof temple to the founder of rastafarianism, Hallie Selassie. We ate the ital food they prepared, and were invited to listen to the elders play at their Niabynge drum circle by the fire. We were grateful to be welcomed in, and witness their ceremony. New Year's Eve brought Medicine for the People to the world renowned Woodford Folk Festival~ where we were epically received and given the opportunity to bring thousands of Oz friends & fans into the new year 2015 together! Medicine was playing on the main stage up until Midnight, when we paused for everyone in the crowd to light their candles, and held 3 minutes of silence to pray for world peace~ this was spectacular to behold, before jumping back into the most energized version of 'I believe in the good things coming'! Powerful new collaboration, 'I Return' just out!! A song featuring my spoken word lyrics~ supported by sweet beatz by DJ Inner Forest. This video, shot by Pavel Safonov features dancer Isabel Sanchez and bass player of the Ace of Cups, the all female band who opened for Jimmy Hendrix~ Denise Kaufman. The concept includes timelessness and the sense that we all return and evolve as beings. In town on her Permaculture Action tour with the Polish Ambassador, Ayla Nereo and I made it into the studio together and she & friends collaborated on vocals on my new track, Journey Bound! It was an exciting fusion of drums, vocal percussion and and enchanting melodies~ look for it on my next Album! Featured artist in article for the award winning Byron Bluesfest, the famous Australian Music festival, in the news~ this photo was taken while we were playing for 8,000 people at Byron BluesFest this spring in Australia!! http://www.echo.net.au/2014/08/bluesfest-wins-helpmann-festival-award/ Collaborating alongside Pele and the ocean, I got busy this spring with a new friend and co-collaborator, DJ Inner Forest!
