This class integrates rhythm, music, self care, and playful creativity as we explore the powerful source of our own creativity~ for mamas of all kinds! This series is a journey of creating beautiful projects for your baby or yourself as a mother. It will be hosted in a nourishing environment at The Mothership doula center in W. Asheville. We will be making music, singing, painting, creating our own affirmation cards, making a dream catcher, learning massage for self care, making birth jewelry, creating a baby mobile, and experiencing a blessingway. There is so much to benefit as a new mama journeying through her path, and this class is meant to be a place of respite and integration as well as inspiration in her next steps. Such a blast to connect with the Medicine for the People Tour again this summer hitting shows including Asheville, NC and Louisville, Ky. Hope played duets with Nahko on reminiscent of the early days on Budding trees, and Hope returned for solos on full scale performances of Aloha and Build a Bridge! Good times and classic shows with the 7 piece band. Always such a pleasure to join them on ever growing stages across the country and beyond! Inspired by the Asheville Percussion Festival, and all the wonderful connections made there, Hope decided to continue to share the love and is offering a Rhythm and Drum class featuring both traditional rhythms as well as techniques for participants to practice creating their own rhythms.
This class is sponsored by Asheville Rhythm and will take place in their percussion studio filled with drums from almost every country in the world. It is a unique opportunity and will be a fun time for everyone involved. For beginners and intermediate, all are welcome!
It was great to be invited to perform at XPand Fest and be a part of such a fun, diverse street festival of dynamic music from jazz to hip-hop.
Asheville has a healthy reputation for its music culture and theres a lot of nationally recognized talent for such a small mountain town. Hope performed on top, (yes on top) of a double decker school bus! This precarious situation was exciting while throwing down the phat beats to a happy crowd of festival goers. This well attended festival is a great place to connect with community action, creative arts, and amazing musicians all working together! . Hope attended HOUSA, the national handpan gathering in the Appalachian mountains. Present were teachers flown in from Italy including Benny Betaine, internationally renowned handpan player.
After a week of learning and going deeper into the world of melodic percussion and the subtleties of handpan playing, Hope and Benny performed together on the HOUSA stage. Benny recently completed a new album and Hope performed on cajon as Benny played his new compositions masterfully on two handpans at the same time. The collaboration was mesmerizing as the tones of wood and metal wove together beautifully to create symphonic serenity and passion on stage. At the quintessentially beautiful permaculture farm venue, the Hawk and Hawthorne~
Hope performed with the Seattle based duo Yaima. Their music is described as a journey through sonic soundscapes traversing sensually stimulating and heart centered compositions deeply inspiring each listener to return to their truth. Trylu inspiring... when Hope joins them on live persuasion, the alchemy of improvisation is tangible.
